Google Apps for Education takes the existing tools found in Google Docs –Word Processing, Spreadsheets/Forms, Drawing, etc–and makes them even more versatile and applicable in your classroom.
Google offers free on-line Professional Development Webinars for Google Apps for Education on its Google Apps Youtube Channel. There are currently 122 hour long seminars that teach educators how to best use Google Apps in their classrooms. A good webinar to start with is ‘32 ways to use Google Apps in the classroom.‘ If you have not upgraded to Google Apps for Education you will still benefit from theses webinars. These webinars are designed to help you master the collaborative opportunities Google Docs offers. Some of these webinars only superficially address good ideas and classroom uses for various Google Doc tools . These are usually addressed in greater depth in tool specific webinars like Google Sites for Educators Webinar. When they are not addressed in a subsequent Google webinar one can usally find numerous on-line tutorials on Youtube that will show you how to implement them.
